Last week’s
CI CyberNews CyberPoll focused on companies’ plans to hire or bring back workers in the first quarter of 2010. A quarter of respondents (25.0%) expect to hire or bring back workers in the first three months of 2010, while another 25.0% are unsure. Half of respondents (50.0%) do not expect to be able to hire/bring back workers during the first quarter.
Comments included:
“If we do hire additional workers, they will likely be ‘temps.’”
“We are geting more RFQ.”
“Our inventories are too low to get good fill rates on current orders. Uncertainty in the market led our distributors to draw down their inventories while we were doing the same.”
“Flat and falling wages are the reason for ‘increasing productivity.’”
“Some layoffs will probably continue.”
