Last week’s
CI CyberNews CyberPoll focused on portable electronic devices. Of the total respondents, 57.89% regularly use a traditional/standard cell phone; 42.11% a smart phone (iPhone, Blackberry, etc.); 0% an eBook reader (Kindle, Nook); 57.89% a standard laptop; and 2.63% a netbook/mini-laptop.
Comments included:
“My next purchase will be a netbook. With more hardware being web accessible (like Google docs), the small hard drive is no longer a problem.”
“The iPhone is an incredible device. AT&T is an awesome service provider.”
“With few exceptions, portable electronic devices are simply a nuisance, in that these mobile devices merely provide more ways for more people to encroach on more of my valuable time! As a society, we have increasingly become enslaved to an insatiable appetite for instant information gratification; not a fulfilling way to live our lives!”
“The forgotten PocketPC with Irda, BT, WiFi so I can use it with my BT mouse and keyboard, my Pharos BT GPS, my BT headset all at the same time. I can create Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and other files on it, read two kinds of cards, CF & SD, more with adaptors, edit all types of photos and play any media file out there. There are myriads of apps out there for this platform but for all of the others, there is NOT an app for that. W00t!”
“None, who needs another electronic leash!”
