Last week’s CI CyberNews CyberPoll asked if readers think that Congress is gridlocked by partisanship. The majority (88.9%) of respondents do, though they don’t all necessarily think it’s a bad thing for the economy. A smaller percentage of respondents (72.2%) think that gridlock spells further stagnation for the economy, while 8.3% are unsure and 19.5% don’t think that Congressional gridlock will negatively impact the economy.

“There is one party that controls the House, Senate and White House. If there is gridlock it is within that party. It is time to remove the entrenched politicians and elect people who will uphold the Constitution.”

“Moderate, common sense is not utilized in government anymore. I can not run my home budget like Congress runs our US budget!”

“In our history, some of the times of greatest prosperity were preceded by a gridlocked congress. What we need to watch out for is when one party is in power.”

“Big government is not the solution.”

“Hopefully the partisanship will keep them from finding even more ways to put our country into debt.”

“Political games are being played. Not since the days of the John Birch society have the terms socialist and communist been tossed around so gratuitously. We have gone through four administrations of ever-increasing irresponsible economics. Irresponsible tax cuts, lack of regulation, and an increasingly uninformed electorate have gotten us where we are today. The only thing I am sure about is that we will not learn our lesson.”
