I recently received an e-mail from Dennis Frimpong, a reader based in Ghana, which I’d like to share with you:

Dear Susan,

I am very pleased to inform you that my knowledge in ceramics is developing through your magazine,
Ceramic Industry. I must say we are much below your level here in Ghana and the magazine is helping me a lot.

Even though we are lacking infrastructure and [an understanding of] the basic importance of ceramic materials (products) to be adapted to help our economy and the country at large, I believe one day all will be well.

My love and interest in ceramics has always been my strength in this part of the world, and for now I am loving what am doing. I must say once again that your magazine gives me knowledge, keeps developing my interest in ceramics and above all gives me hope, a hope that one day…I will be able to help my country more than what I am doing now. I work at the Building and Road Research Institute of Ghana and currently am on the bricks and tile project team.

Dennis’ letter really touched me, and it got me thinking about the state of ceramic and related manufacturing operations around the world. I would love to hear from our worldwide readers regarding the materials, equipment and processes you have available in your operations. Please send me an e-mail at suttons@bnpmedia.com or share your story by entering a comment below.
