Applied Ceramics, Inc. recently announced the successful expansion of production lines and ISO-9001 certification at its Laurens, S.C., facility. The company expects that the expansion and certification will help it accommodate the growth in demand for quality alumina and zirconia refractory products.

The addition of high-tonnage presses, a new casting production line, high-temperature (over 1700ºC) kilns, and an extensive tool and die shop will allow Applied Ceramics to expand into new industries and applications while better serving the current customer base. “These additions will enhance our manufacturing capability to produce high-technology ceramics,” said James C. Welborn, Jr., chief operating officer. “The additional capacity offered by the Laurens facility, particularly in firing, will allow for volume production, quick deliveries and high quality.”
