Owens-Illinois, Inc. (O-I) recently announced that it has filled five positions, three of which were newly created to support the company’s strategic direction. Shaun McMackin has been promoted to vice president of global quality. In this newly created position, McMackin will work closely with customers and regional leaders to develop and implement consistent global quality processes, best practices and metrics. McMackin has been with O-I for nearly 30 years and previously served as vice president of manufacturing for O-I’s North American operations. Prior to that position, he was director of quality assurance and held positions in manufacturing at many North American facilities.

Michael Lonsway has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president of global product innovation. He will develop and lead a global product innovation team, which is challenged to increase the rate and speed of product innovation at a global level. Lonsway, formerly director of innovation and new product development for O-I’s North American operations, led a team credited with significantly increasing the number of new product developments and product launches in recent years.

Tony Caracciolo has been promoted to vice president of global accounts. In this role, Caracciolo will collaborate with regional leaders to build global processes for O-I's multinational customer accounts, lead global training initiatives, help deepen customer relationships, and support regional sales and marketing teams in negotiation efforts. Previously vice president of the O-I North American beer category, Caracciolo, a 25-year O-I veteran, is credited with significantly improving category margins, broadening customer relationships and effectively negotiating new customer agreements. Caracciolo replaces John Bachey, who is retiring after nearly 40 years with O-I.

John Reynolds, formerly director of accounting for O-I's European operations, has been promoted to corporate controller of financial reporting. Reynolds played a key role in restructuring and developing O-I's European accounting team. He joined O-I in 2005 and was corporate director of financial reporting before assuming the role in Europe. Reynolds replaces Michael Scheiding, who is retiring after 25 years of service with the company.

Joe Juarez has been named director of corporate development, another newly created position in the company’s strategic planning group. Juarez, who joins O-I from FedEx Corp., will lead efforts to generate, qualify and pursue attractive acquisition opportunities. He will be responsible for executing and further developing the acquisition process, and he brings extensive experience in all aspects of merger, acquisition and strategic alliance transactions to the O-I team.
