AMERICAN STANDARD TO SELL BATH AND KITCHEN BUSINESS
American Standard Companies Inc. recently announced that its board of directors has completed a strategic review of the company and unanimously approved a plan to separate its three businesses this year. Upon completion of the plan, American Standard will focus on its air conditioning systems and services business with 2006 sales of $6.8 billion and will change the company’s name to Trane, the company’s flagship air conditioning brand. American Standard plans to sell its Bath and Kitchen business with 2006 sales of $2.4 billion, and will also spin off its global vehicle control systems business with 2006 sales of $2.0 billion as an independent, publicly traded company, expected to be known as WABCO. The company expects to complete both the spinoff of WABCO and the sale of Bath and Kitchen by early fall of this year. “The board has concluded that separating American Standard into three focused, better understood companies will create greater shareowner value than the current structure,” said Fred Poses, chairman and chief executive officer. “The businesses have the size, global reach, industry leadership and organizational talent to succeed as separate companies.”
Additional details, including the company’s 2006 financial results and 2007 estimates, are available at www.americanstandard.com.

NEW CERAMIC ROLLER FROM KERATECH MINIMIZES CONTACT WITH TILE
Keratech, a Sacmi Group company, recently introduced AIRTOUCH, a new ceramic roller that minimizes contact with the tile and provides improved firing and alignment. AIRTOUCH allows producers to overcome some of the critical problems that have always affected roller/tile interaction. Produced with an extrusion system covered by a worldwide patent, AIRTOUCH offers considerable advantages, including high air flows underneath the tile, which result in better firing and more balanced kiln control; less contact between roller and tile in both pre-firing and cooling, which enables improved straightness of the roller; and less dirt accumulation, which results in reduced roller cleaning requirements.
For additional information, visit www.keratech.net. Sacmi’s website is located at www.sacmi.com.

SUNROCK CERAMICS ANNOUNCES CAPACITY EXPANSION
Sunrock Ceramics Co., LLC, a high-alumina kiln furniture manufacturer that began operations in early 2006, recently announced the commencement of another 1700°C periodic kiln that will provide the throughput needed to meet the growing demand for the company’s products. The newly commissioned gas kiln will also be used for toll firing, along with the company’s existing 1700°C electric kilns. “The rapid growth in demand that Sunrock is seeing for its kiln furniture from the technical ceramics industry, and the positive reaction from powdered metal parts manufacturers for our alumina pusher plates, has facilitated this investment in additional kiln capacity,” said Doug Thurman, president.

WARREN/AMPLEX INTRODUCES NEW PRODUCT LINE
Micron Diamond-plus from Warren/Amplex Superabrasives was designed to avoid causes of variation inherent in particle manufacturing. Through precise and non-traditional control of the grading process, Warren/Amplex dramatically reduces adjusted center grading effects. While traditional product specifications usually confine product tolerances to mean volume (Mv), d10 and d90, or in some cases d95 of the distribution, the Micron Diamond-plus product line provides tighter limits on the d50 (median), d10 and d99 of the distribution. This approach yields a particle distribution that has a higher degree of accuracy and repeatability for the median of the distribution (d50), fine end (d10) and coarse end (d99).
For more information, call (800) 368-5155, e-mail ron.a.abramshe@saint-gobain.com or visit www.warrenamplex.com.
