CLEVELAND VIBRATOR OFFERS ULTRASONIC SCREENING EQUIPMENT
The Cleveland Vibrator Co.’s new line of ultrasonic screening equipment utilizes dual vibrator drives. The dual motor separator provides for three control variables: vibrator force, frequency and drive angle. This design concept results in a three-dimensional motion, which allows for greater throughput of difficult-to-screen products. The distinctive vibratory action, coupled with HK Technologies’ ultrasonic deblinding system, provides a screener that can handle many difficult screening applications. Screen sizes are available in 24- and 36-in. diameter, down to 635 mesh (20 micron), and all screens are re-screenable.

METSO BEST BATCHING SYSTEM SOLVES DUST PROBLEMS
Metso BEST, Inc. has developed a batching system that solves dust problems and saves time. A manufacturer required a clean, accurate method of batching specific amounts of various carbon black materials in a process that required frequent changes of the materials. Metso BEST engineers designed a gain-in-weight bulk bag unloading station with an interchangeable-frame system complete with unloader assembly. After closing a butterfly valve, the original frame is lifted out of the stationary feeding station and replaced by a second frame with different material. Its butterfly valve is opened and the material change is complete. The complete process is accomplished in a dust-free environment, and the system is readily adaptable to other applications. Materials and processes are tested in Metso BEST’s onsite testing facilities.

MURATA DEVELOPS WORLD'S SMALLEST SAW FILTER
Murata Electronics North America recently introduced the world’s smallest boundary elastic surface acoustic wave (BEL SAW) filter, measuring 0.8 x 0.6 x .365 mm. This represents a 75% decrease in volume and a 66% reduction in area compared to other filters, making it ideal for the mobile phone market. By adopting the boundary acoustic wave (BAW) as the reproducing wave, Murata’s advanced planar-type component does not need a cavity and achieves the same high tolerance capabilities as traditional filters while guarantying the identical thermal shock tolerance of semiconductors. In addition, Murata’s new SAFAM series utilizes ball grid array (BGA) terminations for mounting on integrated circuits (ICs), while current filters can only offer mounting on the printed circuit board, outside the semiconductor.
