CERADYNE RECEIVES NEW ID/IQ ESAPI ORDER
Ceradyne, Inc. was recently awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) three-year order from the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP) for a minimum of $22 million to a maximum of $87 million. The initial delivery order of $16.2 million is scheduled to be shipped in the second quarter of 2008. Both the three-year ID/IQ and the initial delivery order are new orders for enhanced small arms protective inserts (ESAPI).

CeramTec North America Corp. (CTNA) recently announced that Michael J. Mueller has joined the company as president. Mueller joins CTNA with more than 29 years of experience in advanced materials and specialty chemicals manufacturing. In addition, Roberto Vigo was recently appointed the company’s director of Business Development/Marketing.

NEW HIGH-POWERED LASER AVAILABLE FROM COHERENT
The latest addition to the Coherent, Inc. PRISMA series of all-solid-state infrared and green lasers reportedly offers the highest output power available to date. Specifically, the new PRISMA 1064-20-V is a q-switched, Nd:YVO4 laser that delivers 20 W at 1064 nm. With 25% higher output power than previously available, this laser enables faster throughput or reduced processing times, while still lowering the cost per watt.

GEO2 CERTIFIED IN PHASE ONE OF VFT-1

GEO2 Technologies Inc. recently announced that its patented diesel particulate filters (DPFs) have passed Phase One of the VERT-Filter-Test (VFT-1). VFT-1 certification is well-regarded as the industry standard for measuring the efficiency and performance of DPFs in commercial retrofit emission systems. In order to pass Phase One, a filter must meet stringent criteria for quality control, functionality, filtration efficiency and gaseous emissions monitoring.

Sacmi Istanbul recently inaugurated a new production facility in Bursa, Turkey, to produce machines and plants for sanitaryware, including structural frameworks, mechanical parts and components. The new facility will be called Sacmi Bursa.

Sweco recently announced the introduction of its MX Separator, a new-generation separator that increases safety and improves cleanup and maintenance. NEW COMBINATION ATTRITOR AVAILABLE FROM UNION PROCESS
Union Process, Inc. recently produced a hybrid laboratory mill with a unique vertical shaft adjustment that combines features of the company’s HSA-1 and 1-S model Attritors. The vertical shaft adjustment feature is designed to accommodate different sizes of grinding media, thereby making the combination mill more versatile. While this feature is typically included on a 1-S Attritor, it has never been included prior to this on an HSA-1 Attritor.
