ACME BRICK ACQUIRES ASSETS OF OCHS BRICK, MCFARLANE STONE
Acme Brick Co. recently announced the purchase of a Minnesota brick plant and sales office owned by Ochs Brick Co., effective February 2, 2008. In a related transaction, Acme also acquired the natural stone fabrication assets of McFarlane Stone.

INSTALLED U.S. WIND POWER CAPACITY SURGED 45% IN 2007
Shattering all of its previous records, the U.S. wind energy industry installed 5244 megawatts (MW) in 2007, expanding the nation’s total wind power generating capacity by 45% in a single calendar year and injecting an investment of over $9 billion into the economy, according to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

MOHR TO HANDLE SALTILE LIQUIDATION
SalTile of Monterrey, N.L. Mexico, has awarded Mohr Corp. an exclusive contract for the liquidation sale of all machinery and equipment formerly used in the manufacture of Saltillo and SalTerra tile. Until recently, the facility manufactured extruded (red clay) terracotta tile with technology that included clay preparation, crushing, pugmill extrusion, and drying and kiln firing equipment, with integral material handling equipment provided by Studio of Italy.
