Materials Overview
The worldwide economy took a beating in 2008, and the repercussions for the ceramic, glass and related industries have not been pretty. The overall landscape is not completely bleak, however. The depressed value of the U.S. dollar is providing domestic manufacturers relief through opportunities for increased exports. Growth is even being forecasted for some regions of the world, and some materials-like abrasives, boron, silicon, soda ash and zirconium-are expected to see increased demand. Read more in our Raw & Manufactured Materials: 2009 Overview.
