Lippert's design and development of the wet diamond-belt polishing process achieves a high quality polish with low outlays for abrasives. In addition, turnaround times are minimal and all of the equipment integrates easily into fully automated production processes. A new retaining system for the cup-rim polishing process reliably immobilizes cups with very small bases (30 mm) as they pass through the machine, enabling a drastic reduction in the number of pickups required. Operating costs and turnaround times are both accordingly lower. Additionally, the evolution of new flexible diamond belts has made it possible to execute the cup-rim polishing process with diamond belts only, resulting in longer belt lives and reduced costs.
