Lucas Process Systems, Inc. recently announced a new design to simply and effectively scrub kiln emissions with zero water discharge. At the heart of the system is a wet scrubber that effectively collects the acid gases of sulfur dioxide, hydrogen fluoride and hydrogen chloride with near 1:1 chemical reagent usage. The system takes the neutralized acids and effluent from the scrubber and completely dries the stream into a dry solid for re-use or landfilling. This design uses no external heat -- just the waste heat from the kiln -- and has no impact on the operation of the kiln. The patent-pending system offers economical advantages over other completely dry or completely wet systems.
