E.R. Advanced Ceramics recently chose Ceramic Services, Inc. to design, build and start a new periodic kiln. In order to meet the demands of newly acquired business, E.R. needed a new periodic kiln delivered quickly. The kiln also had to produce two different products with improved output and no loss of quality. In nine weeks, Ceramic Services provided a kiln that fired a heavy load of saggars in the same cycle as the company's tunnel kiln, with temperatures as even as the small-cross-section kiln. The new periodic kiln also fires large-cross-section, thick-walled porcelain ball mill sections in less time than the old kiln. Additionally, computer supervision in the new kiln makes complete firing records available for inspection.
