Vishay Intertechnology, Inc.: Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitors
May 24, 2001
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has announced the release of new multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs). The new Vishay Vitramon VJ0612 MLCCs, which typically feature half the inductance level seen in standard capacitors, will be used for high-frequency decoupling and bypass in laptop and desktop computers. The low-profile, very thin outline package (VTOP) of the VJ0612 series allows designers to place the new capacitors underneath ICs, requiring less board space in the final design and reducing circuit trace lengths and parasitic losses. Vishay's VJ9743, VJ9742, VJ9741 and VJ9740 each measure 0.063 by 0.126 in., with maximum thickness options of 0.020, 0.026, 0.028 and 0.030 in., respectively. The chip is designed to reduce AC noise in multi-chip modules.
