MEI Earns ISO 9002 and QS 9000 Registration

Magnesium Elektron, Inc. (MEI) has been assessed and registered under both ISO 9002 and QS 9000 quality assurance standards. The accredited registrar, AOQC - Moody International, awarded the certificates of registration on March 1, 2001, recognizing MEI's achievement. MEI, in the U.S., and Magnesium Elektron Limited (MEL), in the U.K., combine to represent the world's largest producers and suppliers of zirconium based chemicals. "The achievement of QS 9000 continues to demonstrate our commitment to exceed our customers' expectations and to stand out as the supplier of choice," said William B. Fee, MEI's president and CEO. Magnesium Elektron has earned a reputation for supplying top quality zirconium products to many of the world's leading manufacturing companies. The use of zirconium chemicals within the automotive industry has grown rapidly in recent years and includes extensive use of specialty ceramic powders in catalytic converters. Other uses of zirconium compounds include antiperspirant compounds (personal care products), paper and pigment coatings, paint dryers, and structural and electro-ceramic applications.
