Dow Corning to Develop New Port Facilities for Customers in Asia
April 9, 2003
Dow Corning Corp. recently announced that it is establishing new storage and distribution facilities in Asia to provide customers with faster and more flexible delivery of high volume materials. Agreement has been reached with Odfjell, the Norwegian-based global chemical transportation specialist, to establish a storage and distribution hub for Dow Corning at Odfjell's terminal in Ulsan, South Korea. Dow Corning will use the facility as a hub for the supply of materials to all Asian-based customers, as well as the company's own manufacturing facilities in Asia. Materials shipped from Dow Corning manufacturing plants in Europe and the U.S. will be stored and off-loaded from the terminal's storage tanks into bulk road tankers or drums for distribution direct to customers. Odfjell will also manage coastal shipment from Ulsan to Japan and to a new tank facility created for Dow Corning in Shanghai, China.
