LMI Selcom: Laser Beam Sensors
June 11, 2002
A series of non-contact, laser-based industrial gauging sensors has been introduced by LMI Selcom. Based on the shadow measurement principle, the sensors feature better linearity, a longer range capability and more flexibility in application than similar type sensors, at a low cost. Available in 15 different standard models and diaphragms, the new Class II (Class III optional) laser beam sensor (LBS) looks at the shadow it creates and does not rely on surface reflectivity for measurement. This makes the new sensor especially ideal for high-speed, non-stationary, hard-to-measure applications. In some cases, the LBS can also be used for stationary measurement.
