Andec International Services Corp,: FurnaScope Testing System
August 1, 2001
The FurnaScope from Andec International Services Corp. is an in-situ nondestructive examination (NDE) stress wave furnace testing system. The unit was developed to provide nondestructive thickness measurements of refractories layers in various types of industrial furnaces. The FurnaScope is also capable of detecting and locating cracks, voids, discontinuities and delaminations within layers of refractory linings -- all while the furnace is in operation. Operation is based on stress wave propagation principles and sonic-echo NDE techniques. The low frequency signals generated by the FurnaScope allow users to monitor thick (up to 5.0 m) and complex (multilayer) furnaces with or without the presence of cooling staves.
