Keith Acquires KMI Industries

W.P. Keith Co., Inc. recently acquired KMI Industries and will continue the operation of the company's refractory distribution, custom insulation systems, and Recco furnace business units. Keith manufactures thermal process equipment and integrated automation systems for ceramics and advanced materials. Recco furnaces, which are well known in the heat-treating, foundry, and tool and die industries, will be integrated into the product lines sold and supported by Keith. KMI Refractories will operate as a separate division focused on refractory distribution, refractory service and custom fiber insulation systems. While much of the Recco furnace business is nationwide, KMI Refractories principally serves the Southern California market. "The combined resources of Keith and KMI now provide one-stop support services that include air quality management district compliance, modernizations subsidized by local energy company rebate programs, equipment relocation and refurbishment, troubleshooting, and more," said Steve Mortensen, vice president of Keith. The Keith and Recco Furnace operations will be combined at Keith headquarters in Pico Rivera, Calif. KMI Refractories is currently operating at the same location as the former KMI Industries in Lynwood, Calif.
