Lafarge Roofing recently inaugurated its eighth plant for concrete roof tiles in Malaysia. This modern, fully automated plant in Dengkil is the largest and most modern plant in the country. With an investment of 25 mn Ringgit (around 6.5 mn Euros), Lafarge Roofing is increasing its capacity in the region by more than 20%. Malaysia is a country with a prospering construction industry. Public and private building activity is on a high level in what is in general a good economic environment. Lafarge Roofing plans to open another plant in Malaysia in 2003. "Demographic trends in the country, together with well-directed government programs to support private building, guarantee a high demand for roofing materials," said Dr. Ulrich Glaunach, CEO.
