Inside CI: Construction Ahead
When the Ceramic Industry staff first started thinking about putting together an Equipment Digest, we realized that it couldn't be done overnight. But we didn't want you to have to wait several years while we developed and refined it. Even more importantly, we began to understand that to make this a truly useful resource, we would need input and feedback from the people who use and know the equipment best-the manufacturers and suppliers.
So we decided to start small. This year's Digest is not comprehensive by any means-but it is a solid beginning. Those of you looking to find a specific piece of equipment will easily be able to locate suppliers under numerous equipment categories. And those of you looking to understand what certain pieces of equipment can do for your company will find definitions and descriptions for several equipment categories. Keep this issue on your desk throughout the year as a valuable reference tool.
But also view it as an opportunity. For every piece of equipment without a definition, you can help. Do you have in-depth knowledge of how an agglomerator is used in the ceramic industry? Have you had experience with numerous types of mills and their applications? What about kilns and kiln controllers? If so, you can be a part of this exciting development process.
We want to hear from you, whether it's a new definition or a suggestion on making the format different or easier to read-or even something off the topic of the Equipment Digest altogether. This is your magazine, and we want to continue to provide content that will meet your needs and promote the interests, growth and progress of the industry as a whole.
To that end, we have also launched a new and improved website at www.ceramicindustry.com. Packed with content, our new site provides a valuable online reference tool for the industry. Visitors can now access the entire content of each print copy of Ceramic Industry magazine, and can also find archived articles. Hot-off-the-press news items will be posted on a weekly basis, and an interactive industry bulletin board will allow visitors to easily share knowledge and experience. Additionally, online copies of our Materials Handbook and Data Book-and now our new Equipment Digest as well-can be accessed with a click of your mouse, and suggestions for revisions or additions can be entered online.
The bottom line is that we exist to serve you, and we rely on your help and feedback to ensure that we are meeting your needs. Please feel free to contact me any time at (248) 366-2503; fax (248) 366-2504; or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to hearing from you.
