Grieve: High-Temp Furnace

The no. 661 from Grieve is an electrically-heated high temperature furnace. Workspace dimensions measure 16 x 16 x 16 in., and the maximum operating temperature is 2650F. The furnace's 15-in. thick insulated walls are composted of 6 in. of 3000F insulation and 9 in. of 2300F insulation. Heat input is provided by 20 KW installed in silicone carbide heating elements. According to the company, the double-hinged door with holding clamps allows the unit's operator adequate protection from the heat blast. A furnace door interlock turns off the heating elements as the door is opened.
