Ceradyne Receives First Armor Order For Navy Ship
February 14, 2005
Ceradyne, Inc. recently announced it has received a $2.8 million order for its lightweight ceramic armor for use on a Navy vessel. The first of its kind for Ceradyne, the order was placed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center for delivery in late 2005. "I am particularly pleased that the Navy chose Ceradyne as the armor supplier for this ship," said Marc King, vice president of armor operations. "The use of state-of-the-art ceramic armor offers the lightest weight, most ballistically-efficient solution for ground, air and sea applications where reduced weight is often the key consideration in decision making."
