SME To Host Energy and Fuel Cell Conference

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) has announced that it will host a new conference titled "Advanced Energy & Fuel Cell Technologies: Manufacturing Opportunities & Challenges," October 11-13, 2004, in Livonia, Mich. The event will feature examples of industry applications in the military, aerospace, portable, stationary and automotive sectors, as well as exhibits of portable, stationary and transportation fuel cells and the components used in these technologies. Researchers and developers will also deconstruct a fuel cell to show how the devices work and how they are assembled. Dialogue among industry members will focus on how to reduce energy consumption and guarantee a reliable power source for a variety of operations. Participation is expected from groups such as Delphi Corp., DTE Energy, General Motors and Motorola, NASA and the National Automotive Center, as well as a number of universities and national laboratories.
