Mikron Infrared, Inc. has added two new models to its line of digital fiber optic infrared (IR) pyrometers for non-contact temperature measurement. The MI-S5 LO and the MI-GA 5 LO are specially designed for harsh environments such as high ambient temperatures (up to 250°C) or areas where electromagnetic interference can influence accurate measurement. The MI-S5 LO with a silicon IR-detector has a very short wavelength (0.8 to 1.1um), while the MI-GA 5 LO measures lower temperatures since it has a slightly longer wavelength of 1.45 to 1.8 um. With a selection of optical heads, both instruments can be customized for specific applications. These instruments measure temperatures between 300-2500°C, and feature analog and digital outputs.
