Recent new hires, promotions and elections within the ceramic industry.

Tanya D. Fratto has been named vice president and general manager of GE Superabrasives, and a corporate officer of General Electric Co. She previously served as the general manager of consumer service for GE Appliances. She replaces John Krenicki, Jr., who was named president and CEO of GE Transportation Systems. Rohm and Haas Advanced Materials has named Fernando Ballesteros business director. Prior to this position, Ballesteros served as country manager for Rohm and Haas Columbia. In addition, Gail Dewey has been named director of global sales and marketing. She previously served as business manager for the company. Rob Gates has joined Poco Graphite, Inc.’s Glass Products Group (GPG) as non- container products sales engineer, North America. His primary focus will be on developing sales to manufacturers in industries such as float glass and CRT manufacturing. He is also responsible for identifying new opportunities for the GPG and will take the point position in communicating non-container applications to representatives in other geographic regions. PPG Industries has named two regional senior account managers for PPG PROSTARS, its automotive replacement glass marketing alliance with retail glass shops. Bill Towler will serve the Central region, and Jody Vlatkovich will cover the Mountain States. Amarnath (Nath) Viswanath has been promoted to vice president of technical services at Fusion Ceramics, Inc. He joined the company in 1994 as director of technical services. Before joining Fusion, he served for over 25 years with a German frit, glaze and stain manufacturer. Dan Beldiman has joined Pred Materials International, Inc. as product manager. He has five years of experience with CPH Chemicals in Eastern and Western Europe, selling refractory, ceramic and other industrial materials. His initial market focus for Pred will be in the refractory industry. Belen Mangano and Lue Whipple have been named customer service representatives with Superior Graphite Co. Their duties include processing existing and new customer orders via phone, fax and e-mail, and keeping customers apprised of their order status. Hank Glace has joined Ceram Tek as process engineer and technical specialist, responsible for engineering and technical sales. He previously worked for CoorsTek and is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in ceramic engineering. KILTEL Systems, Inc. has appointed Lee M. Jachter senior kiln and applications engineer. He is a ceramics engineering graduate of Rutgers University, with over 15 years of experience in aerospace, electronics and specialty ceramics, as well as in tile manufacturing. He will provide sales, installation and engineering support for KILTEL’s customers throughout the U.S. BOC Gases has named John Walsh president, tonnage and applied gas solutions, North America. He will be responsible for BOC’s tonnage and bulk gases business, as well as global business development for the food, environmental and glass market sectors. He was also named to the executive management board of The BOC Group, the U.K.-based parent of BOC Gases. Porvair Ceramics Limited has named Andrew Dahl sales and marketing director. He was previously with UOP as regional business development director, with particular responsibility for the former Soviet Union. In addition, Martin Ralph has been named sales manager, sanitaryware. He has represented Porvair for the last two years at Anjo Engineering and Consulting. Dr. Paul N. Blumberg and Wilford D. Godbold Jr. have been elected to the board of directors of Ceradyne Inc. Blumberg is director of the Chemical and Physical Sciences Laboratory, Ford Research Laboratory. Godbold, currently a private investor, was president and CEO of Zero Corp.
