Cookson Continues Vesuvius Expansion in China (6/6/06)

Cookson Group plc has announced three new projects totaling £10 million ($19 million) that will further expand the activities of Vesuvius, Cookson's Ceramics division, in China. "We have successfully grown Vesuvius' local presence in China over the last 10 years. These new projects will provide further profitable growth by exploiting our leading technologies in new, highly efficient facilities supplying growing markets in the foundry, glass and solar cell markets," said Francois Wanecq, chief executive of Vesuvius. The projects include construction of a £5 million ($9 million) foundry crucibles facility in Suzhou (Jiangsu Province), a £2 million ($4 million) expansion of the glass roller facility in Kua Tang (Jiangsu Province), and the construction of new £3 million ($6 million) solar crucible facility in Kua Tang (Jiangsu Province).
