Fuel Cell Seminar & Expo Set for October (posted 7/12/07)

With the theme “Fuel Cells: On the Path to Energy Independence,” Fuel Cell Seminar & Exposition 2007 will be held October 15-19 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. Topics this year will focus on issues relating to energy security and global climate change, as well as an expanded technical program.

The Seminar & Exposition Plenary Session will consist of the presentation of the Fuel Cell Seminar Award and the Dr. Bernard S. Baker Student Award, as well as a panel of plenary speakers who will provide perspectives on the pathways fuel cells might take in the transportation and power sectors. Invited speakers include Frank Princiotta of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Robert Rose of the U.S. Fuel Cell Council, Dan Keuter of Entergy, and Jamie Levin of AC Transit.

This year’s conference will feature four oral presentation session tracks. The first three will cover low- and high-temperature fuel cell R&D and research underway in the transportation, stationary and portable power applications. Tracks 1 and 2 represent R&D in high- and low-temperature fuel cells and components, while Track 3 focuses on demonstrations and end-user perspectives. The new fourth session is a detailed analysis of the most important topic areas that enable near-term commercialization. Topics in Track 4 include fuel cell markets, economic considerations (e.g., project financing), government and environmental incentive programs, and manufacturing advancements.

The Seminar & Exposition will also offer a technical poster session that includes over 150 posters showcasing research in a variety of subjects. A series of short courses and planned technical tours will also be part of this conference. In addition, the annual Fuel Cell Seminar & Exposition Golf Tournament, two receptions, and a happy hour will allow ample time for networking.
