INSIDE CI: Well Equipped?

My brother is one of those people who always has the latest gadgetry. He bought a portable DVD player before I even had one of the stationary variety. He’s always talking about his latest acquisitions, and half the time I honestly don’t have the slightest idea what he’s talking about. He actually gave me his first DVD player because he wanted the latest model. After I’d gotten it home and tried (wildly unsuccessfully) to hook it up myself, he and I were on the phone for half an hour while he walked me through the setup process.

In general, I’m not very technologically inclined. My daughter’s 12-year-old BFF mocked me last week because I’d been confused when she excitedly told us she’d gotten a new razor. It was hard to match her level of enthusiasm, as I’ve never considered shaving to be that exciting. Little did I know that she meant Razr, which is apparently a totally awesome cell phone. Who knew?

The expression on her face when I told her I can’t send text messages or take pictures with my cell phone was absolutely priceless. She clearly did not understand that I simply don’t want all of those bells and whistles. My phone does what I want it to do (i.e., makes phone calls), and I know how to work it, so I’m happy.

My brother is also one of those people who generally disregards instruction manuals, not out of stubbornness, but because he doesn’t need them. To someone like me, who could memorize the instructions and still not get the gadget to work, people like him are exceptionally maddening. In my defense, once I understand how to get a gadget to do what I need it to do, I can usually take it from there. It’s reassuring, though, to have a “go-to” person available in times of need.

Their research and development teams are constantly working to develop innovative equipment to meet the ever-changing, and increasingly demanding, needs of ceramic manufacturers. Would you prefer complete turnkey installation for a new piece of equipment, or would you rather that your plant’s personnel handle it in-house? Does your facility need 24/7 remote monitoring assistance, or can you get by with access to a help desk when the need arises? Maybe your needs vary depending on what type of machinery is purchased, or what application(s) it will be used for? Chances are, these suppliers can provide not only the best piece of equipment for your application, but a level of service that perfectly suits your needs.
