DMG to Open New Technology Center (posted 3/14/08)
As a demonstration of its commitment to better serve the American machining market at all levels, DMG America recently announced the grand opening of its Technology Center America in Itasca, Ill., just outside Chicago. The event will occur April 15-18 with 15 machines in operation, including three new machine designs, plus ongoing technical workshops, food and entertainment. A special raffle for an ATV will also be conducted.
The full range of DMG milling, turning and advanced machining technologies will be featured at the event, including ultrasonics, as well as a virtual machine, tool presetters and related devices for enhanced manufacturing. New machines that will be shown for the first time in America include the DMC 55 H duoBLOCK®, a newly designed horizontal machining center designed for high-production, high-accuracy CNC milling; the DMU 40 monoBLOCK®, a new design with a compact footprint and versatile five-axis simultaneous milling for machining smaller workpieces with high-accuracy requirements in medical, aerospace and other demanding market applications; and the CTX beta 800, a newly designed universal lathe for larger workpieces up to 16.1 in., plus precision turning, absolute measuring system (not reference point), and Y-axis and counter spindle.
Attendees will be able to participate in one-hour workshops, to be held each day, covering topics such as high-speed cutting (HSC) for the mold and die work industry, aerospace machining, medical machining, production machining, and advanced manufacturing technologies for a variety of materials. Special emphasis will be given to these key target market segments on the days indicated: April 15, aerospace; April 16, medical; April 17, HSC; and April 18, production machining. Guest speakers will be on hand each day to discuss these areas in detail.
“This event is designed to not only offer machine shop personnel a look at our new facility and enjoy a good time, it is also serving to demonstrate the commitment we’re making to the American market, with new machines, new services and a much larger application engineering and support team,” Daniel Wenker, marketing manager.
