A new spray-on refractory offers multiple benefits over traditional brick.

The refractory offers rapid application in hours or days, with quick and easy repairs that minimize downtime.

Magneco/Metrel, Inc.’s MetpumpTM spray-on nanoparticulate refractory line is now available for recirculating fluid bed (CFB) construction and repair. “An exclusive development of Magneco/Metrel, this is advanced refractory technology with time-tested and important new benefits,” said Charles W. Connors, Sr., chief executive officer. “Its impact has been revolutionary because it can be applied in hours, instead of weeks or months, to create a low-cost, endlessly renewable working lining that improves end-product quality and operational performance while dramatically reducing downtime, as well as construction and maintenance costs.”

Advantages

Available in a variety of compositions, Metpump products consist of a pumpable, colloidal silica-bonded monolithic refractory material that offers the following advantages over traditional brick refractory:
  • Rapid application in hours or days, with quick and easy repairs that minimize downtime.
  • Low construction cost.
  • Continuous, seamless surface for fewer structural weak points.
  • Ability to perform hot repairs at temperatures well over 1500ºF.
  • High acid and alkali resistance.
  • Excellent abrasion resistance.
  • Proven performance in existing CFB, duct, boiler, absorber and combustion power applications.
Metpump reduces CFB downtime and construction costs considerably, thanks to its pumpability and very low water content, which allows the material to dry quickly. The refractory can be pumped at rates up to 15 tons per hour.
