CERAMITEC 2009 to Showcase Technical Ceramics (posted 3/6/09)

In recent years, technical ceramics has grown much faster than other sectors of industry. This growth is happening both in classic silicate ceramics and in modern oxide and non-oxide ceramics. A major factor in this success is global marketing, but the real secret behind the constant expansion is that ceramic components can be used to carry out many key functions in other segments of industry.

On display at CERAMITEC 2009, which will be held October 20-23, 2009, in Munich, will be not only the machinery and technology needed to manufacture these key components, but also the components themselves. The fair is aimed both at ceramic manufacturers looking for the latest technology to use in their own production facilities, and also at potential users in the automotive industry and other sectors. The presentations will concentrate on the cost-efficient manufacture of ceramic components, from prototypes through to large series production, as well as the economic benefits of the use of ceramic components.

In addition, CERAMITEC will also be showcasing the innovations and technologies for ceramic manufacturing and other applications at a “Technical Ceramics and Powder Metallurgy Day” on October 21. Speakers will discuss the latest techniques, such as injection molding of metal-ceramic compound components on machinery from Arburg, and LTCC (low-temperature co-fired ceramic) technology for modern ceramic sensors and the associated manufacturing systems and new developments from KMS Automation GmbH.

The 400-square-meter “Meeting Point Ceramics” display, organized by TASK, will form the heart of this theme area. Over 40 ceramic manufacturers are to take part in the display, among them Ceramtec-ETEC GmbH; Friatec; Doceram; FCT Ingenieurkeramik GmbH; system suppliers such as TEAM by Sacmi, founded last year; the feedstock manufacturer Inmatec; and the Expertenkreis Spritzguss network.
