Solvay Chemicals Exits ANSAC (posted 1/27/09)

Solvay Chemicals, Inc., recently announced that it has exercised its right to withdraw from the American Natural Soda Ash Corp. (ANSAC), thus triggering a two-year exit process. ANSAC is a consortium of U.S.-based soda ash producers and sells into specific overseas markets. Solvay Chemicals, a subsidiary of the Solvay Group, says the move reflects the success of its expanded global business.

“We’re very pleased to have been part of ANSAC,” said Richard Hogan, president of Solvay Chemicals. “We felt the evolution of our business made this move necessary, as we have grown to a point where logistically and technically we can serve our customers no matter where they operate. ANSAC and Solvay Chemicals are committed to securing a smooth and seamless exit to ensure effective customer supply.”

Solvay Chemical’s full withdrawal from ANSAC will become final December 31, 2010. Visit www.solvaychemicals.us for additional information.
