Sacmi Supplies Ceramica Castelvetro via H.E.R.O. Program (posted 11/6/09)

A new Sacmi kiln will reportedly allow Ceramica Castelvetro of Solignano (Modena) to raise productivity while cutting costs and emissions. This is the first fully integrated project to be completed by Sacmi as part of the H.E.R.O (High Efficiency Resource Optimizer) project, Sacmi’s program to combine outstanding performance, energy savings and environmental awareness.

The FMS 2950 kiln currently has the widest in-feed in the entire district. At 100 m long, it features the XTR system, which enables it to maximize heat recovery and slash running costs by at least 20% compared to the kiln previously used at Ceramica Castelvetro. Sacmi has also supplied the company with a turnkey plant for the recovery of excess heat from the four existing dryers.

From piping, valves, fans, booster units and flow control, the plant’s design was carried out in a “nonintrusive” mode to allow smooth integration with the existing building. The result is a “total recovery closed cycle” that lowers both consumption and the level of atmospheric emissions while being fully compliant not only with legal requirements but also modern environmental protection targets.

With this investment, which aims at total internal energy recovery and minimization of dispersion, Ceramica Castelvetro can achieve a true “ecological integrated cycle” that constitutes an effective and innovative response to the current needs of the ceramic market. The system reportedly provides a cutting-edge solution that blends the natural need for higher productivity while containing costs and emissions.
