Business-wise, 2009 was the worst year that many of us have ever experienced. The worldwide recession has wreaked havoc, causing many companies to close or idle plants, reduce their workforce or even go out of business. Those of us who are lucky enough to remain must take on more work while dealing with the departure of our colleagues and, oftentimes, compensation reductions.
But in many ways, 2009 was also one of the best years I can remember. I’ve been more inspired than I can express by the spirit of innovation, determination and teamwork I’ve seen throughout our industry. It’s been amazing to see what we can accomplish when the chips are down.
This issue features our third annual Services Directory, which includes those companies that strive to help manufacturers succeed in good times and bad. The Address Index includes complete supplier contact information and a brief description of the services offered by each company, while chart-style listings specify each service provider’s area(s) of expertise.*
I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone in the Ceramic Industry community-from print magazine or digital edition readers and website visitors to social media participants-for trusting in us to deliver high-quality content to help you succeed. We will remain at your service into 2010 and beyond.
