INSIDE CI: "Fall" Cleaning

I didn't quite get around to spring (or even summer!) cleaning this year. Less problematic projects (along with several opportunities for fun) seemed to keep coming up, and I'm always happy to postpone cleaning of any kind. I'm determined to be more proactive this fall, though, or else nothing of any real significance is going to get accomplished around here.

True progress is difficult to achieve without expending any effort. Luckily, suppliers and manufacturers are working on a number of projects to help move the industry forward. Our October issue focuses on material advances, and we're including feature articles on topics ranging from a silicon carbide furnace facility expansion ("Breaking New Ground," pp. 19-20) to the use of enriched boron materials in the nuclear power industry ("A Nuclear Renaissance," pp. 21-23) and the growth of fine fireclay ("Fine Fireclay: Great Expectations," pp. 24-25). For the full Table of Contents for this issue, please turn to p. 5.

It is with a heavy heart that I must share the news that Sue Love has had to step down from her role as publisher of CI due to medical reasons. We thank Sue for her tireless service and dedication, and we wish her all the best for the future. Sue has long been a friend and champion of the industry, and she will be sorely missed.

Rest assured that CI's commitment to providing you with the latest, highest quality information continues during our search for a new publisher. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact me at (330) 336-4098 or
