A North Carolina artist will be offering two tile art classes.

This month marks the beginning of two tile art classes taught by decorative tile artist Marina Bosetti. The first class, Clay Birdhouses, will be open to intermediate-level clay artists at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. Under Bosetti's direction, students will have the chance to create their own fully operational birdhouse with slabs and other handbuilding techniques. Students may choose to enter their final creations in the JC Raulston Arboretum Bird House Contest, which takes place in April.

Bosetti will also be demonstrating her talents at the Tile and Hand Building Workshop in her own studio, also located in Raleigh. Beginner students ages 14 and up are welcome to register for this six-week course that will cover the fundamentals of ceramic tile making and hand building. In addition to instruction, the cost of registration covers clay and the use of studio tools.

Marina Bosetti creates her award-winning decorative tiles by using a wax resist to form designs on red clay; she then adds colored glazes to the areas defined by the wax. She has used her painted tiles in murals, mirrors, birdhouses, backsplashes, and a variety of other installations.
