An African glass factory uses recycled glass in its creations.

Located in the small kingdom of Swaziland in the southern part of Africa, Ngwenya Glass is a popular hotspot for anyone interested in glassblowing. At the factory, skilled artisans create beautiful vases, jugs, and ornamental sculptures of African animals. These handmade items are crafted with recycled glass and sold around the world.

Ngwenya Glass was opened in 1979 by a Swedish Aid company. Although it closed down due to fiscal troubles in 1985, the factory reopened under new ownership in June 1987. More than 70 people (including master glassblower Sibusiso Mhlanga, who was part of its original staff) now work for Ngwenya Glass. The factory is actively involved in its community and has initiated a successful wildlife conservation fund in recent years. For more information, visit
