“As one of the global leaders in the processing of tantalum, we have an obligation to show the industry that we are committed to the responsible use of this key raw material,” said Daniel Persico, Ph.D., vice president of Strategic Marketing and Business Development. “By participating in the pilot, we will have the opportunity to ‘learn by doing’ in a peer learning process that will help us overcome challenges and meet reporting obligations, as well as the expectations of customers, regulators, and the public at large.”
The pilot is another proactive step being taken by KEMET to help ensure that all materials entering its supply chain are conflict free. It is also an important piece of the broader KEMET program aimed at supporting people on the ground in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), increasing the supply of raw materials and stabilizing the industry for the long term. Over 50 companies, both upstream and downstream, have volunteered to participate in this pilot.
