President Obama's Health Care Law

President Obama's signature health care law, also known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, was upheld last month in a 5-to-4 decision by the Supreme Court. In last week's CI CyberNews CyberPoll, we asked readers whether the Supreme Court made the right decision. 56.5% of readers said no, while 39.1% answered yes. The remainder (4.4%) were unsure.

Comments included:

Whether one supported or opposed passage of the law is irrelevant. It is outrageous and disillusioning that a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court would rewrite a law, insulting the intelligence of citizens, in order to justify finding it Constitutional. Very sad for America.

My view is that Roberts is trying to force congress to repeal the entire act.

Obamacare is bad news. It doesn't fix the basic problem. The U.S. has world-class health care capabilities, but has a third-world system in making that medical care available to its citizens. Obamacare won't solve that; it's shameful and disgraceful!!

No one likes to be told what to do, but I would agree with the President's analogy on mandatory car insurance.

The court assumed the roll of legislators. When they couldn't pass the bill as a mandate they changed it to a tax and passed it in its unexposed entirety.

We still need, as a matter of morality and national security, single-payer universal coverage in this country. ACA is a start down that long overdue path. Health care should not be in the hands of commercial enterprises.
