Corning Inc. recently announced that its Board of Directors has elected Martin J. Curran to the position of senior vice president and innovation officer, a new position in the company, effective August 1. Curran will report to both Wendell P. Weeks, chairman, CEO and president, and David L. Morse, Ph.D., executive vice president and chief technology officer.
Curran joined Corning in 1984 and has held several roles in finance, manufacturing, and marketing. He served as senior vice president and general manager for the Corning Cable Systems Hardware and Equipment Americas organization, prior to being named head of Optical Fiber. Most recently, Curran served as senior vice president and general manager for Corning Optical Fiber.
In his new role, he will be responsible for leading an entrepreneurial-focused organization that will operate across all business segments to identify and develop near-term revenue opportunities.
