PPG’s Bowland Named Composites Person of the Year

The Composites Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE®) recently named Creig Bowland, research associate for PPG Industries’ fiber glass business,Bowland its Composites Person of the Year. The award reportedly acknowledges individuals who have provided significant guidance and support to the Composites Division of the SPE and who have made important contributions to the composites industry as a whole.

Bowland’s professional expertise is in application development and design of long fiber thermoplastic (LFT) composites for structural automotive parts, and he has worked for more than 20 years in the composite industry. He designed and developed the long fiber compounding technology PPG offers to its customers.

“Creig has a genuine commitment to the composites industry,” said Paul Westbrook, PPG science and technology director for fiber glass. “As a member of our research and development team, he utilizes his knowledge, background and expertise in composites to become a trusted partner and solution provider to our customers. Being recognized as the 2012 SPE Composites Person of the Year is a prestigious and worthy commendation for Creig.”
