PPG Moves Residential Insulating Glass Production to Carlisle, Pa.

PPG Industries recently announced it is continuing to invest in the PPG Residential IG Service Center in Carlisle, Pa., including installing the first Automated Tri-Lite AssemblyPPG Moves Residential Insulating Glass Production to Carlisle, Pa. System (ATLAS) production line for insulating glass (IG) in the U.S.

The PPG IG Service Center, formerly located in Allentown, Pa., manufactures IG units for use in residential windows and patio doors. The facility was consolidated at PPG’s Carlisle Works in 2011 to maximize operational efficiencies at the plant, which also produces PPG residential glass products such as SUNCLEAN(R) self-cleaning glass, SOLARBAN(R) solar control, low-emissivity (low-e) glasses and SUNGATE(R) passive, low-e glasses.

The PPG Residential IG Service Center reportedly supplements the production capabilities of residential window and patio door manufacturers. With the addition of the ATLAS system, the plant can help customers meet high-volume demand for highly insulating, energy-efficient triple-pane IG units. It also makes conventional IG units as well as IG units in irregular shapes, sizes and configurations.
