Acme Brick Co. recently announced that Bobby Allen, one of its longest serving employees, was awarded the company’s President’s Award at its annual meeting. The award is presented annually to the Acme Brick employee whose efforts reflect the type of performance that has made the company successful over its 120-year history. Specifically, candidates must demonstrate measured improvement in their area of responsibility and extraordinary service to Acme Brick and its customers.
Allen was most recently hired by Acme in January 1976, some 37 years ago. He had worked at the company prior to 1976, but military duty required him to leave.
Allen has literally saved Acme millions of dollars during his career, according to the company. For example, in 2012, he completed a project to change the telecommunications systems and save over $30,000 per month. In addition, he was the project leader to roll out the company’s entire phone system on Cisco VoIP. In effect, Allen built “Acme Phone Co.,” the company’s own data network where calls between its locations ride on one network. This reportedly presented a huge cost savings and also improved the ability to communicate with other associates.
“Bobby Allen represents the kind of employee who has enabled Acme Brick Co. to be successful for nearly 122 years,” said Dennis Knautz, president and CEO.
