Asahi Glass Co. (AGC) was recently awarded a Silver Class rating for the first time in the 2014 CSR survey of RobecoSAM (based in Switzerland), reportedly the
world’s leading socially responsible investment (SRI) rating company.
Every year, RobecoSAM evaluates the sustainability of global corporations in terms of economy, environment, and social responsibility, and rates the top corporations on a scale of three classes: gold, silver, and bronze. In the 2014 survey, the world’s leading rating firm evaluated roughly 3,000 companies, and nominated 70, 65, and 87 companies for gold, silver, and bronze classes, respectively. Two Japanese companies, including AGC, were named in the building products sector.
AGC was awarded a bronze rating in 2012. A Silver Class was granted in 2014 in recognition of significant initiatives for recycling resources in production processes and continuing social contribution activities. AGC reports that it will continue to contribute to achieving a sustainable society through its business activities.
