Morgan Advanced Materials Appoints Raby CEO
February 3, 2015
Morgan Advanced Materials recently announced the appointment of Pete Raby as CEO, with effect from August 1, 2015. Raby joins the company and the board from Cobham plc, where he is currently president of its Communications and Connectivity sector—the company’s largest sector with over 4,000 employees across 30 sites worldwide. During a nine-year career at Cobham, Raby has demonstrated a strong leadership track record across a range of roles, including head of strategy and chief technology officer, leader of the group-wide “Excellence in Delivery” operational transformation program, and head of the company’s satellite communications business. Raby has been a member of Cobham plc’s executive committee since 2010.
Prior to Cobham, Pete was a partner at the consultancy McKinsey & Co. He began his career at Trimble Navigation, a location-based solutions company, after completing a Ph.D. in satellite navigation at Leeds University.
The appointment follows an in-depth search process following the departure of Mark Robertshaw, and was led by the chairman with the support of the nominations committee and the board. Kevin Dangerfield will remain interim CEO until August 1.
“Pete has a strong technical background and an impressive track record in planning and executing business strategy across global manufacturing operations,” said Andrew Shilston, chairman. “His background in technology-led innovation makes him an excellent choice for the role of CEO as Morgan Advanced Materials continues to develop truly differentiated, world-leading products and materials across its global markets. We are delighted to welcome him as CEO, and we look forward to working with him.”
“Morgan Advanced Materials is a company with a long and distinguished history and an exciting future,” said Raby. “I am delighted to be appointed chief executive officer. The company has a tremendous heritage in advanced materials technology, and I look forward to getting to know the people and the business, and leading the group in the next phase of its development.”
