ACI Receives Phase 1 SBIR Grant

Advanced Cerametrics (ACI) recently announced that it has received a Phase I Small Business Innovation (SBIR) grant from the Office of Naval Research to design and evaluate high-energy transducers made using ACI's pseudo-single crystal piezoelectric fibers. Initially, these devices will be used in the Navy's sonar equipment, but eventually they will find use in applications ranging from improved ultrasound imaging to clearer stereo speakers and hearing aids. This new generation of ceramic materials has demonstrated multiples in piezoelectric performance and, in fiber form, can be made flexible and lightweight.
