Alfred Professors Earn SUNY Chancellor's Awards (7/11/06)

Two ceramic engineering professors in the New York State College of Ceramics, the state-supported unit of Alfred University, were among the four faculty members who received State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor's Awards for Excellence. Vasantha Amarakoon, Ph.D., professor of ceramic and electrical engineering in the Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering and director of the NYS Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology (CACT), received the award for Excellence in Professional Service. William Carty, Ph.D., professor of ceramic engineering, Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering, received the Excellence in Teaching award.

Two art professors also received awards. Stephen D. Edwards, professor of glass art, School of Art & Design, received the award for Scholarship and Creative Activities, while Glenn Zweygardt, professor of sculpture, School of Art & Design, received the award for Excellence in Faculty Service.
