Alfred's CACT and CAMP Receive $1.8 Million Grant from NYSTAR (5/2/06)

Russell Bessette, Ph.D., executive director of the New York State office of Science, Technology and Academic Research (NYSTAR), recently presented Alfred University's Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology (CACT) and Clarkson University's Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) a check for $1.8 million. The purpose of the grant is to "develop pilot plant facilities and expertise in the synthesis of nanosized particles and subsequent processing and consolidation into nanostructured ceramic components with enhanced properties." CAMP will develop molecular-sized building blocks for new materials, and Alfred researchers will then process and test the new materials for their suitability for use in the manufacture of electronic components.
